The Principle Approach to Addressing Some Teen Age Fears:
How a father of four children, ages 14-20, has helped to
displace some of the fearful "i's" - whether some minor uneasiness
of mind or a painful apprehension of some impending evil. He offers a clear
explanation of how "America's historic method of Biblical reasoning"
is used to address some fearful thoughts youth may have and help them learn
to oppose and displace scripturally "unauthorized" fears, such
as the fear of being alone.
Correcting the Temper -- Discerning and Correcting the
Disposition of Children:
One of the historic functions of education is to "correct
the temper" -- to set right a wrong disposition, attitude or frame
of mind. Reasoning from the Bible, the instructor will contrast two constitutions
of the mind and explain some scriptural and historical principles and approaches
to discerning and correcting character. A typical behavioral problem will
be examined to demonstrate how Webster's 1828 Dictionary and the Bible are
some of the most effective tools to help a parent begin to discern and correct
the disposition of children.
The American Christian Response to Negative News:
How may one discern the Hand of God working through adversity
and in spite of "bad" or negative news? And consider one example
of how an American Christian evaluated an instance of national adversity.
Ponder how the Providential view of history -- past and present -- equips
the Christian to displace discouragement and despair concerning fearful
media news reports.
The Christian Approach to Correcting Wrongs:
Explains the Biblical presuppositions for correcting political/economic/cultural
wrongs in a Christian republic; Illustrates the Christian method for correcting
moral or political folly; Offers historical and practical examples of how
the Founding Fathers corrected wrongs prior the American Revolution and
offers four historic methods of American Political action which can set
matters right today.
Why Christian Liberty is BOTH Evangelical and Political:
This presentation documents and explains the most fundamental
Biblical ideas necessary for the Christian to understand the Providential
history of individual liberty and law. Understanding these six simple truths
quickens the Christian in America to become more responsible for the quality
and conduct of his nation's educational and civil institutions.
Providential View of History:
Based upon the discoveries of Master Teacher, Katherine Dang,
the instructor will explain the Hand of God in universal history and contrast
the pagan with the Providential view of history. An elementary history curriculum
will be introduced that teaches how God works through men and events. The
published resources to get you started will be identified.
The United States Constitution: A Christian Form of
Government:
Secular humanists say the U.S. Constitution is a "godless"
document because it does not acknowledge God or explicitly embrace Christian
or Biblical ideas of man and government. These scoffers "do err, not
knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God" (Matthew 22:29) This
presentation introduces the Biblical principles of our Constitutional Federal
Republic and why it is a Christian covenant whether or not Christians formed
our government.
The 4 R's -- Cultivating Christian Scholarship in the
Home:
Christian scholarship is the capacity to reason from Biblical
principles. This presentation illustrates how the Principle Approach to
American Christian Education enables the Christian to identify and reason
from the Biblical purposes and principles of a subject in the curriculum.
Given time, the instructor will help parents learn how to apply this method
of Biblical reasoning to uncover the vocabulary and Biblical origin and
purposes of a particular academic discipline.
Developing a Principle Approach Home School... Where
to Start:
Learn to implement America's historic Christian method of
Biblical reasoning with confidence and with good success with out discarding
your textbooks, etc. This presentation explains the Principle Approach and
what distinguishes it from other approaches, describes how a parent may
take dominion over a subject, and suggests where to begin. The resources
and tools you need will be introduced.
The Principle Approach to America's Christian HISTORY
and GOVERNMENT:
Introduces the seven minimal Biblical principles that enables
the Christian to discover why there would be no America if there were no
Christ or Christianity. It explains how to "think govern mentally"
and practice the Christian idea of man and government. These seven simple
truths are basic to cultivating Christian self-government as the foundation
for a Christian form of civil government.
Eight Lesson Plans for Teaching America's Christian
History and Government in Your Home or Church:
Introduces the "Short Course" -- eight lesson plans
for those who want to teach at home, conduct a study group, or enlighten
a Sunday School class concerning the Christian's responsibility for both
self and civil government and the Biblical principles that have and will
secure God-given life, liberty and property under our form of government.
Notebooks vs. Workbooks:
Explains why the Notebook method of teaching and learning
is superior to using workbooks; Why the proper use of Notebooks is the best
tool for self-teaching and for developing self-government; How Notebooks
develop American Christian character and productivity; Presents historical
examples of Founding Fathers who used a Notebook methodology for self-education;
Recommends how to use Notebooks to teach and learn a subject in the school
curriculum.
Poetry: A Key to the Heart and Imagination of the Child:
A mom's personal experience in how poetry was used in a Christian
home to discipline, quicken, and delight the hearts of children. The best
expression of poetry will be identified in the Bible. Two key poets will
be illustrated (perhaps with the assistance of Deborah and/or Lydia Rose):
Isaac Watts, whose songs have been taught in America for 300 years,
and Henry W. Longfellow, who was the poet of the American hearth
and home.
Using Literature to Reform Character: Little Women by
Alcott:
Literature deals with the inward man and is useful in exposing
and correcting qualities of character and the manners and habits of youth.
This presentation outlines the five "p's" of instruction and illustrates
how the parent-teacher could use good literature to expose and reform a
negative quality of character observed in a child. Selected excerpts from
Little Women will be used to illustrate the topic.
Mother's Role in Raising the Next Generation of Christian
Statesmen:
This presentation emphasizes the importance of historic patriotism
in the home and offers Biblical and patriotic examples of women who have
trained their children to love God and country. Using practical suggestions,
the Bible and other examples, the instructor will discuss why and how mothers
can cultivate Christian statesmen.
